Company:
University of Cambridge - Cambridge Graphene Centre

A position exists for a Research Associate on Raman Spectroscopy of Graphene and Related Materials as part of a EU funded Grant.

The aim is to set up a new Raman spectrometer working at ultra-low frequencies, with multiple layer lines from IR to UV and with low and high temperature and magnetic field capabilities. The role holder will also perform Raman measurements on a variety of samples ranging from amorphous carbon to graphene and related layered materials and hybrid systems, including plasmonic systems. The role holder will be expected to provide a full data analysis and interpretation of the data, using a variety of analytical and computational tools, including group theory and density functional theory.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology, Chemistry or Materials Science. Expertise in low frequency Raman spectroscopy of graphene and related layered materials is an essential requirement, as demonstrated by publications in major journals. Experience in handing collaborations within EU projects, including reporting and attendance to project meetings is also essential. The candidate will also have the ability continually update knowledge in the specialist area and engage in continuous professional development; have experience of managing own workload

The post holder will be located at the Cambridge Graphene Centre, 9 JJ Thomson Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 0FA. This is a fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance. Salary: £28,982 to £37,768
