Talga enters MoU with Leclanché to trial graphene li-ion battery anodes

Talga Resources logo 2017Advanced battery anode materials and graphene additives provider Talga Resources has announced that it has executed a Memorandum of Understanding with Switzerland-based Leclanché, a leading provider of high quality energy storage solutions.

Under the MoU Leclanché will evaluate Talga’s range of Swedish anode products, Talnode, in its batteries with the intention to develop commercial products for the lithium-ion battery industry.

First Graphene and Manchester University enter agreement to develop graphene-based energy storage materials

First Graphene logo imageFirst Graphene has signed an exclusive agreement with the UK’s University of Manchester, with the duo to collaborate on the development of energy storage materials including a new class of high-performance capacitors made from a graphene-hybrid.

This latest agreement expands on the duo’s formerly-established collaboration, with both organizations to make metal oxide decorated graphene materials, which have very high gravimetric capacitance of up to 500 Farads/g. Manchester University’s previous research has revealed high capacitance materials up to 500 Farads/g are possible and outperform existing materials.

Skeleton Technologies' graphene-based supercapacitors to power Škoda trams in Mannheim

Skeleton Technologies, European developer of graphene-based supercapacitors and energy storage systems for transportation and grid applications, will supply supercapacitor systems to Škoda Electric, a traction equipment manufacturer, for 114 trams to be delivered by Škoda Transportation to Mannheim, Heidelberg, and Ludwigshafen in Germany.

The system recuperates the braking energy of the trams and uses it for re-acceleration, saving energy and decreasing costs. Supercapacitors are ideal for this application due to their high efficiency, reliability, and ability to recharge in seconds.
